European Projects
1. Real-SOFC (2004-2008)
HTc has been selected as Work-Package manager of the most important SOFC European Union Integrated Project “Real-SOFC,” coordinated by Forschungszentrum Jülich. The project includes all relevant SOFC actors in Europe (Hexis, Rolls-Royce, ECN, Risoe, Halder Topsoe), has an EU budget of 9 MEuro over the next 4 years, and brings together all relevant European SOFC activities in one project. HTc has been chosen to deliver several reference stacks to partners such as Gaz de France and Electricité de France amongst others.
2. Flame-SOFC (2005-2009)
The FP6 project Flame-SOFC aims to develop a 2 kW micro-CHP unit. HTc will develop and provide customized stacks as the core of this unit, and EPFL will provide stack simulation and test support. The other partners cover the aspects of flexible fuel reforming, thermal integration, housing, control and certification. Two big industrial OEM companies are participating as driving forces in the project [Merloni TermoSanitari (I) / Elco Shared Services (DE) and Fagor Electrodomesticos(ES)]. Market potential for the developed product in EU is estimated at 600 M€/yr. Cost calculations demonstrate that HTc can achieve target costs to make the product viable. HTc revenue estimates for stacks are estimated at 22 M€/yr per partnership integrating the HTc stack. Product development time is estimated at 4 years.
3. SOFC600 (2006-2010)
HTc was invited to participate in a EU project involving the leading SOFC academia groups in Europe, i.e. ECN, FZ Jülich and Risoe amongst many other partners. The project goal is to develop SOFC technology operating at 600°C with the same performance, but increased stability. HTc’ task is to integrate the evolved materials into stacks and provide the stacks for testing.
4. FCTESQA (2006-2010)
Fuel Cell Systems Testing, Safety & Quality Assurance (FCTESQA) addresses the aspects of pre-normative research, benchmarking, and validation through round robin testing of harmonised, industry-wide test protocols and testing methodologies. In the FCTESQA, FCTESTNET's results will be validated and benchmarked. HTc is involved in validating the established procedures for a micro-chp unit.
